Understanding the Cosine Wave
If you map out both a Sine wave and a Cosine wave on a chart spanning from -360° to +360°, you will immediately notice that they trace the exact same oscillatory geometric shape. The primary difference is simply their starting position. The Cosine wave is phase-shifted identically 90° (or À/2 radians) to the left of the Sine wave. This means when an angle is exactly °, its Sine is , but its Cosine is perfectly 1. This relationship is famously mapped linearly around the Unit Circle.
Why We Need Secant sec(x)
